The ENIGMA of FZ's Reserve System -What Lines are added?-

CAUTION! THIS IS JUST MY GUESS. Nobody, of course I also, have any responsibility for this description. Take own risk in every time when you do something. I get no response from any suitable person and organizations. NOBODY recommend anything.


3GM igniter unit of the earlier model has the lines for EXUP, an independent TACO, and another 10 lines.
The lines for EXUP must be useful for you. Taco is not because 1AE and others take the signal of the tachometer from one of their ignition code. So, we must consider another 10 lines only. The couplers of 3GM are one has 4 electrodes and one 6 electrodes as same as the before models. 2LM and the later use the digital one pickup. 2 lines for pickup, 2 lines connected to ignition coils and 2 lines from the engine stop switch and to the earth. The last two lines are for the electric supply.
1AE and 1FM uses the analogue 2 lines pickup. So, they have 3 lines for the pickup. 2LM and later don't need one line of the three. Use the 2 lines pickup unit and change their connecting layout.

In other words, The 7 lines of 1AE and 1FM are same with 6 lines of 2LM and later but layout.

We must consider another 4 lines for using the 3GM igniter on the 3KS harness.

I guess another some of 4 lines are for the reserve system.
The reserve system of FZ(R) series are made as logical one. Because of the electromagnetic fuel pump's hating AIR, fuel system never cut the fuel physically. While the fuel SENDER sensing the fuel, the sender feeds the power to the pump. When running shorter of fuel, the sender cuts the power to it. When the pump stopped, we feel the lack of GAS. So, we will change the reserve switch into ON. The reserve switch make the bypass line to the pump. Then the pump should work again. It is the special logical RESERVE tank.

1AE, 1FM, 2LM, 3KS have the same system with own harnesses and some relays. So, we don't need the 2 lines when we want to use 3GM engine with older frame.

The 2 lines remainder may sense the status of a side stand or a clutch.

Actually, I can make 3GM igniter work with 3KS harness connecting just 2 of 6 to earth.(See the connectors index and the destinations list.)

1 of 6, 4 of 6    for the electric supply   these 6 are common for 2LM and later

2 of 6               for sensing some status to run. It may be the side stand position.
It is doubtful! When a side stand is down, the engine not works? By the way, we can fire the engine just to make 2 of 6 connect to the earth.
Of course, CONSIDER by your self, you need others for your safety or not.
