Mounting 3GM mortor on 3KS frame.
Notice:
I replaced the motor into 3GM's one for my braking original.
This is just a note of my experience.
I take no responsibility for the information here.
If you do something similar, you are responsible for the outcome.

My FZ is 3KS. 3KS may be the same as 1FM,1AE,1FN and others except for the pickups and some power regulators.(See The Differences between models and The list of trifle differences)
3KS is newer than 3GM! :-)
3rd cylinder of my 750 motor has gotten great depressions.

Mounting and Oil line
To mount a 3GM motor, there no problem. Mount bolts are placed in the same positions with FZ's. Although 3GM has 2 more bolts in the side of the cylinder head. I don't use that two bolts.
Consider the oil line first. The oil outlet fitting in the left side will hit 1FM's sub frame and the side stand switch. The right side might hit also. I looked for some adapters that would not hit the frame. But, I can't find a thinner one than 3GM's genuine outlet. Plane the bolt head of the genuine outlet and attach. The side stand switch should be removed. Some models of FZ may need the side stand switch to start the motor. Roop back the lines of the switch at their coupler or set the switch in another place.

Water line
The path of the water line on the back will hit the tank. Some people hit it with a hammer to avoid the interference. I used the water line from an FZ750 and hit the pipes to avoid the interference with CARBS. So the water lines of mine are from an 750, including the thermostat. The bolt holes near by the intakes may need to be adjusted if you want to do same way.

Chain line
3GM's chain line is shifted 8mm to the outside from 1FM's.
I can't make the 750's sprocket offset 8mm. And can't make the drive sprocket offset -8mm. So, I replaced the swing arm and rear wheel to keep the line.
The drive sprocket of 3GM's motor is set on a thick collar. The collar could be removed if you open the bottom case though I skipped it.
The 2GH swing arm and wheel can be fitted without modification to 1FM frame. It's width at the pivot is same as the FZ750.(See The swing arm dimensions)
The chain line of 2GH will be 1.98mm inside against the 3GM. You will need 6 1.98mm collars to adapt the driven sprocket. I used FZR600R(4JH  Although, I got it as second hand parts of FZ400(4YR) that may be Japanese domestic model.)'s swing arm and wheel. It is 10mm narrower than 1FM frame and will hold the chain line the same as 3GM. Or, the TRX850 has the same dimensions and 12mm wider at pivot shaft. Use two 5mm collars with 4JH swing arm or plane 12mm 4NX's.

Igniter
I used a 3KS(1FM) igniter to drive the 3GM motor. But, the advance timing was not suitable. You will feel bad over 7000rpm when you use the 750's igniter.
Replace the main harness completely. Or, adapt a 3GM igniter to 1FM harness.(See The Differences of igniters and How to use 2LM/2GH igniter)
See The Views from the bottom of igniters. In that chart, 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 6, 6 of 6, 1 of 6, 4 of 6, 2 of 6 are needed to suitably connect to the 3GM igniter. The EXUP motor isn't needed to run. Although I recommend the EXUP motor and exhaust to keep original power.

Exhaust
Now you have mounted a motor and made it run. You need a muffler.
The motor is mounted at 10 degree lean angle. So, the 3GM exhaust will hit the FZ's frame.(See Exhaust pipes hit the frame)Bend it! No choice. The 3GM original or aftermarket parts for 3GMwill hit and need to be bent.

Dyno Jet
Additionally, if you choose an aftermarket full exhaust, I recommend Dyno Jet stage 1. Without EXUP, Dyno Jet may be effective for keeping up the low rpm power. But, Stage 3 would be too rich in my case. Although, EXUP is more powerful.

These are all of outline. Is it useful for you?
